Dr. iur. Anja Martin

anja_vitaDr. iur. Anja Mar­tin, MA. S, is a cer­ti­fied lawyer spe­cia­li­sing in sports law and sport manage­ment. Pre­vious last years she was a Pro­fes­sor at the Macro­me­dia Uni­ver­sity for Applied Sci­en­ces where she worked as a spe­cia­list in the area of sport and events. Anja Mar­tin also acts as keynote speaker at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces and is mem­ber of the Ethics Com­mit­tee of the Ger­man Foot­ball Asso­cia­tion DFB.

On com­ple­tion of her Uni­ver­sity degree rea­ding Law at LMU Munich and FAU Erlan­gen Nurem­berg, which inclu­ded one year in Lausanne/Switzerland, and her trai­nee legal clerkship at the OLG Nurem­berg Fuerth (1. and 2. State exami­na­ti­ons in Bava­ria), Anja Mar­tin took a Mas­ters degree pro­mo­ted by FIFA (Mas­ter of Huma­nities, Manage­ment and Law of Sport; „FIFA Mas­ter“) at renow­ned uni­ver­si­ties in Eng­land (De Mont­fort), Italy (Boc­coni) and Switz­er­land (Uni­ver­sité Neu­cha­tel). She acqui­red her doc­to­rate at the Uni­ver­sity of Zurich stu­dy­ing sports law (The title of her the­sis: „The natio­nal Anti-Doping Code“).

Before her admis­sion to the Bar Anja worked as a prin­ci­pal legal advi­sor and was chief of the legal depart­ment (cen­tral topics of busi­ness: Sports, Labour and Con­tract law). As act. Mana­ging direc­tor (cen­tral topics of busi­ness: Finan­cial and Human resource Manage­ment) of the Natio­nal Anti Doping Agency NADA she was responsi­ble for the natio­nal fight against anti-doping. In this func­tion she was per­so­nally responsi­ble for the imple­men­ta­tion of the WADA Code 09 into the natio­nal rights, held nume­rous expert lec­tures inclu­ding those for the Sports Com­mit­tee of the Bun­des­tag, the Sport Con­fe­rence of Minis­ters, The Euro­pean Com­mis­sion, the DFB Trai­ners voca­tio­nal trai­ning, and the Ath­lete Ple­nary Assem­bly, was responsi­ble for the super­vi­sion of the IIHF Ice Hockey, UCI and IAAF World Cham­pi­onships and was legal expert for the Legal Group of the Coun­cil of Europe.

Fur­ther­more Anja Mar­tin fought, as Direc­tor Legal of Spor­tra­dar AG, against trans­na­tio­nal level sport mani­pu­la­tion and fraud (cen­tral topics of busi­ness: Gam­bling Law, M&A, Con­tract, Cor­po­rate and Labour Law of an inter­na­tio­nal busi­ness enterprise).

Alongs­ide her many dif­fe­rent sports law spe­ci­fic publi­ca­ti­ons she also deve­l­o­ped toge­ther with Prof. Dr. Mar­tin Nolte, while working as a sci­en­ti­fic advi­sor at the Ger­man Sports Uni­ver­sity, an Anti-Manipulations-Code for Ger­man and Inter­na­tio­nal Sport Fede­ra­ti­ons which was publis­hed in Janu­ary 2014.

Anja Mar­tin is mem­ber of the Ger­man Asso­cia­tion for Sports Law E.V., the FIFA Mas­ter Alumni Asso­cia­tion and as a pas­sio­nate foot­ball fan: the 1. FCN. She is still very active in sports and when she stop­ped being a hockey player and licen­sed trai­ner her free time has been taken over by ten­nis, ski-ing and moun­tain climbing.
